Dell City Humane Society offers a variety of services.  Our goal is to help all
abused, neglected, lost, and even feral animals. We are a no-kill shelter.

Adoption

We will provide adoption services for a nominal donation.  We will require all adoption applicants to fill out an application and be willing to allow a visit from a humane society volunteer to check on the welfare of the animal.

Surrenders

If you need to surrender your pet to the shelter for adoption, these services will be offered. A donation of $20.00 will be required to leave your pet at the shelter. Surrendering your pet is a permanent decision. Please take time to consider your decision before coming to DCHS and leaving us your pet.

At Dell City Humane Society (DCHS) we will work very hard to reunite lost pets with their owners. We will admit stray animals at the shelter and hold them while trying to locate the owner. DCHS will keep a log of reported stray animals being held in people’s homes. We also will maintain a lost pet bulletin board allowing pet owners to post their pet’s information for Shelter visitors to view. Since new animals will most likely be received every day, we will recommend you visit the Shelter every couple of days in search for your pet. Unclaimed animals are evaluated and placed up for adoption as long as they are found to be healthy and friendly.  To assist with pet identification, DCHS will offer microchip identification to all animals adopted or reclaimed. Additionally pet microchips are will be offered four times a year at microchip clinics held at the Animal Shelter.

We will have traps available, for a small donation, to trap nuisance animals.  We will come out to capture nuisance animals as well.  We will provide public health protection against communicable animal diseases, including rabies control

Spaying and neutering your pet is highly recommended for all animals. Spaying and neutering contributes to healthier and safer pets: it stops pets from wandering, decreases the risk of cancer and stops the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens (and bunnies and guinea pigs). All Shelter animals will be surgically sterilized prior to going home.

We will have limited funds to assist low-income pet owners in spaying or neutering their pets. It's best to have your pet altered before sexual maturity, but remember it's never too late to "fix" your pet! Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
