Grants

Right now is a very trying time for us because we know the need is so great and we want to be in Dell City helping all of the animals.  Of course, without funds that is impossible.  We are in the midst of actively researching and applying for grants.  If anyone has any suggestions for fund raising please email us at any of the email addresses on the home page or director's page.  We would love to hear from you. Thank you for your continued support and prayer..

Rescued Pugs

Hi! My husband and I recently just bought a small piece of TX land just West of Dell City. I have been trying to learn about Dell City. We heard you have a festival in Sept, so are planning our first visit for Sept next year. In the meantime, I ran across your website and I have a rescue story to share.

I have a great love for Pugs, but have not had a Puggie for many, many years. One day we were out buying an old 50s used fridge and I noticed that the older man selling the fridge had a Pug sign in his house window. Of course I asked about Pugs. He told me that he used to have a breeding kennel but he only had three Pugs left. I asked to see them and he reluctantly took me down to the kennel area. There were indeed three Pugs. Two males and one female. He offered to let me have the young male pug for just $10 and he said that he hated the dog because it was crazy. Catching him was a problem, but we managed, and by the time I got the little male home, I was loaded with fleas. I put him in a carry kennel and prepared a flea bath for him. In getting him out he bit me twice, but after much persuading, the bath was complete. For three days that dog didn't eat or drink anything he was so scared. I fed him by forcing his mouth open and putting the food in, and I syringed water into his mouth. We did temporarily name him Psycho Pug. After two weeks that crazy Pug boy turned into the sweetest Puggie on earth. Then the old fella with the old kennel called me and asked me if I wanted the other two Pugs, an old Male breeder and a young very beautiful and wild female. You guessed it! I picked them up, brought them home, bathed them, gave shots. The old male had mange bad so it took me eight weeks of harsh smelly treatment and baths to clear that up. He is the one in the picture I sent to you. I named the first Pug Larry (formerly Psycho Pug), the female- Curly, and the old Pug- Mo. Larry, Curly, and Mo. Sound familiar? laughing

It has been eight months now and I found a nice family to place Mo into. They are thrilled with him. I still have Larry and Curly, and I thank God for putting them in my life. I plan on keeping them in their forever home with me.

I will look up your Rescue Shelter once we get down to Dell City. Best wishes, Rebecca.

Rebecca, thank you so much for your story!  We loved it.  Can't wait to meet you!

Good Luck

Best of luck in your fund raising!

We are looking to buy a little bit of acreage near Dell City to park our RV on during the winter months, so hopefully we'll soon be neighbors.

We have owned rescue Saint Bernards for many years- currently we have 3; one 2 year old baby, a 6 yr old female and our crippled-up old boy, now nearing 11.

I recently saw a bumper sticker which said it all for me:

around the outline of a big paw print the words "Who rescued who?"

Allison, thank you so much for your donation and your story!  Hope to meet you soon!
